MEETING WITH MEMBERS OF THE PHU XUAN UNIVERSITY COUNCIL

After 20 years of construction and development, Phu Xuan University has solidified its position as the first university in the North Central region to establish an action plan and educational innovation strategy closely linked with businesses. It clearly defines the university's role in providing high-quality manpower for businesses in the Central region and nationwide. Step by step, the university is progressing towards becoming a modern institution with international stature.

The university council, in its leadership and management role, has actively contributed to the development of Phu Xuan University. Considered one of the key factors shaping the future of the university, the council not only ensures efficient management but also promotes innovation and enhances the quality of education. Let's explore who the members of the Phu Xuan University Council are.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son – Chairman of the university council

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son is a co-founder and Vice Chairman of the Board of EQuest Corporation. He has over 20 years of management experience in various fields such as information technology, finance, and education.

He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Computer Science from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam. He earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from the State University of New York, USA, through the VEF Scholarship from the Vietnam Education Foundation.

Mr. Dam Quang Minh – Vice Chairman of the university council

Since 2016, Mr. Dam Quang Minh has served as the Rector of Phu Xuan University, under the University and College Division of EQuest. Known as an expert in restructuring and innovative education at the university level, he successfully restructured Thanh Tay University and Phu Xuan University.

Currently, Mr. Minh is the Chairman of the High School Division at EQuest, responsible for strategic planning, developing the high school system, and managing new investment portfolios nationwide.

He graduated from the Gifted Program in Natural Sciences at Hanoi University of Science (National University of Hanoi). In 2007, Mr. Minh received a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the University of Greifswald, Germany.

Ms. Ho Thi Hanh Tien – Vice Chairman of the university council

Since 2020, Ms. Ho Thi Hanh Tien has assumed the position of Rector of Phu Xuan University. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, and has over 20 years of experience in language education, higher education, and research. Ms. Hanh Tien has participated in more than 20 international projects over the past decade, funded by UNESCO, WB, USAID, Erasmus+, British Academy, Global Challenge Fund, Vietnam-Finland Government, British Council, Aus4skills, serving as project leader/member. 

Mr. David Amstrong Jr. – Member of the university council

Mr. J. David Armstrong, Jr. has over 35 years of experience in university education management, economic development, community service, and leadership development at the state and national levels in the United States. David Armstrong is the former Honorary President of Broward College in Florida (USA) with over 10 years of successful leadership. Before that, he was also the President of the Florida College System. He has served as a consultant to numerous university and college boards, previously holding the position of Vice Chairman of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Economic Development Alliance and Vice Chairman of Leadership Florida.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Montevallo and a Master's degree in Administration from Troy University.

Ms. Dam Bich Thuy – Member of the university council

With nearly 40 years of experience in finance, banking, and education management, Ms. Dam Bich Thuy is the founding President of Fulbright University Vietnam. She was the first Vietnamese General Director of ANZ Bank, Country Representative of National Australia Bank (NAB) in Vietnam, and CEO of Vietnam International Bank (VIB).

Ms. Thuy holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Hanoi and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA, under the Fulbright scholarship.

Ms. Ngo Hoang Oanh – Member of the university council

Ms. Ngo Hoang Oanh is currently the Rector of Phu Xuan University. In 2004, she received a Ph.D. in Law from the Friendship University of the Russian Federation. With over 30 years of experience in legal and educational fields, she has held various high-level positions. Ms. Hoang Oanh previously served as the Secretary-General of the IAE Board of Directors and was a Fulbright scholar at Harvard Law School (USA).

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Toan – Member of the university council

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Toan, a co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors, also the CEO of EQuest Education Organization. As an experienced entrepreneur in finance and education, Mr. Toan has established several companies specializing in banking investment, education, and educational technology.

Mr. Quoc Toan is passionate about changing the education landscape in Vietnam. He believes that comprehensive innovation in education is the only way to enhance Vietnam's competitive capabilities on the international stage. In addition to managing EQuest, Mr. Quoc Toan is also a sharp-witted writer, contributing articles on education policy, economic politics, and business strategy.

Dr. Quoc Toan holds a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University, USA. He graduated with a Master's degree in Economics from the National Economics University, Hanoi, and a Bachelor's degree in Business from Edith Cowan University, Australia.
